A national disaster has been declared, as more than forty lives have been lost, and many more are in danger Israel’s Fire and Rescue Services and JNF-KKL foresters battle the blaze. Starting in the Muhraka area of the Carmel hills on Thursday morning, December 2, the fire quickly spread to nearby communities, forcing the evacuation of more than 17,000 residents. The Israel Foreign Ministry is in contact with the United States government and countries from around the world regarding assistance in extinguishing the blaze.

Evergreen International Aviations, Inc. in McMinnville, Oregon will send their super tanker Boeing 747 fire-fighting aircraft, which holds 20,000 gallons of fire retardant to Tel Aviv’s Ben-Gurion International Airport.  ICL Performance Products Ltd. has their fire retardant Phos-Chek, equipment, and personnel ready to be deployed from their Air Base in Post Falls, Idaho, and has already delivered fire retardants to Israel from their operation in France.
