About the Consulate
The Consulate General of Israel in New York represents the State of Israel in New York, Connecticut, and Northern New Jersey.
Mr. Kalir was born and raised in Tel Aviv, Israel. He served for three years in the IDF, where he was a part of special reconnaissance unit with the infantry [Sa’ye’ret Giv’ati]. After the army, Mr. Kalir went on to study law at the Hebrew University Law School, where he graduated with a Masters of Law summa cum laude. Following his studies, Doron went on to teaching law at the Hebrew University Law School, and worked at the Israeli Knesset (Parliament) as an advisor. He then worked for the Antitrust Division of the Israeli government, and argued cases before the Supreme Court of Israel.
Mr. Kalir arrived in New York in 1998, to study law at Columbia Law School. Following his studies, which he graduated as a Kent Scholar (Highest Honors), he was asked to teach for two years the incoming class of international student. After teaching at Columbia, Mr. Kalir joined one of New York’s largest law firms, Skadden Arps, where he stayed for five years.
Today Mr. Kalir provides of counsel legal services to complex federal litigation cases, teaches a course in Biblical Jurisprudence at Columbia Law School, and continues to work on his Ph.D dissertation. He frequently speaks for the Israeli Consulate on a variety of issues across New York.
